We all know and love this popular Yorkshire seaside destination, and now this survey has officially confirmed it.
Fancy a trip to the seaside? Silly question, of course you do.
As the sun is slowly starting to make an appearance, there's no time like the present to grab some fish and chips and enjoy a day out on the beach.
And for most of us Yorkshire folk, the seaside town to visit has got to be Whitby.
Located on the North Yorkshire coast at the mouth of the River Esk, the town offers jaw-dropping views and is drenched in Gothic history.

Whether you're earning to climb the iconic 199 steps up to the Abbey, or you fancy visiting one its many quaint pubs - a day out in Whitby is always a day out well spent.
And it seems like readers of The Express agree, as they've voted Whitby as one of the best places to visit in England.
Praised for its "traditional British seaside experience, with plenty of beautiful walks for active holidaymakers", it's got us questioning why we'd even consider going abroad when we've got Whitby on our doorstep?

Bursting with attractions, from Whitby Abbey to the Dracula experience, you're truly spoilt for choice with exciting things to do when you're not taking in the extraordinary coastal views.
Not to mention the cracking selection of fish and chips on offer from the Magpie Cafe and Trenchers, both iconic institutions who've been serving the seaside delicacy for over 50 years and were both named in the top 10 best fish and chips in the country.
What an accolade.
So what are you waiting for? Pack your bags, your bucket and spade, and take a trip to the seaside.
The full track list for the charity album has been released, featuring Fontaines D.C., Pulp, Olivia Rodrigo and loads more.
The legendary Sheffield indie group have been largely silent (as usual) since the release of their last album, The Car, back in 2022.
But today, the monkeys are back with a brand new song titled 'Opening Night' , in support of War Child's upcoming project to provide aid for children living through war.
That project being 'HELP(2)' - a brand new collaborative album inspired by the landmark 1995 release 'HELP' to engage music lovers globally in support of the charity's vital work.
The new album will be released on Friday 6 March and was brought to life through close collaboration with Abbey Road Studios, recorded predominantly across one extraordinary week in November 2025 under the stewardship of acclaimed producer James Ford.
There's so me pretty huge names on the album who have contributed, including Fontaines D.C, Pulp, Damon Albarn, Wet Leg, Young Fathers and so many more.
Recorded in a single day in 1995, the original ‘HELP’ album raised over £1.2 million, enabling War Child to provide vital support to thousands of children caught in the Bosnian conflict.

New Korean restaurant to replace Pieminster site on Division Street after shock closure
Clementine Hall
Signs have gone up for a brand new Korean restaurant on Division Street.
If you're like us and love a good pie and mash, then you'll have shared our deep sadness when Pieminster closed suddenly after 7 years in the city.
It was one of our favourite spots to fall into on a Sunday with a raging hangover when you just want some hearty grub to bring you back to life.
But it's not all doom and gloom, as there's been some life in the old site as signs go up for a new Korean restaurant.
'Omomo' will sell authentic Korean street food and bubble tea.
And this isn't the first Omomo, they've got a site in Derby which is a firm favourite amongst local foodies.
Dishes include everything from kimchi pancakes and fried dumplings to bibimbap, fried chicken, army stew, and bubble teas.
The best part? We don't have long to wait as Omomo will be opening its doors this Saturday 24 January.
Announcing the news to their social media, Omomo said: "We’re excited to announce the soft opening of OMOMO Korean Street Food & Bubble Tea in Sheffield City Centre.
"This is our second OMOMO, following the amazing love and support at our Derby restaurant — and we can’t wait to welcome Sheffield’s food lovers.
"Come try our bold Korean street food, crispy favourites, and refreshing bubble tea — and be part of our next chapter. See you soon, Sheffield!"
We can't wait to welcome Omomo to the city and try it out for ourselves.
