It’s payday week Leeds, here’s everything we’ve got on the agenda for you.

The end of the month is fast approaching, and that means that means that there’s a whole lot of events to get on the calendar for payday weekend.

Whether you’re looking to meet one of Yorkshire’s favourite YouTuber or get your hands on a free burger or Detroit slice, there’s so many new openings, gigs to go to and shopping discounts to get your hands on, it’s going to be an easy week to fill with plans.

Rate My Takeaway Meet ‘n’ Greet

Tuesday 27 September 2022 | White Rose Shopping Centre

Danny Malin from Rate My Takeaway is hosting a charity meet and greet session in White Rose Shopping Centre as part of Macmillan’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’. Tickets are needed for the event, but are free of charge with donations that can be made throughout the day. As part of the event, Danny will be reviewing White Rose’s resident bakers Oh So Yum, Batch’d, and Deneco’s during his visit and greeting attendees at 10am – 1pm and then from in the afternoon 3pm – 6pm.

The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery

Tuesday 27 September – Saturday 1 October 2022 | Parkinson Building, Woodhouse

Inside Leeds University Library Galleries on the University of Leeds campus, The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery is free for all to access, and makes up a collection of both European and British creative works of painting, drawings, and prints. The collection spans from the 1600s to the present day, as well as presenting a small collections of sculpture and ceramics, with photographs dotted throughout.

Thursday 29 September 2022 | Leeds University Stylus, Lifton Place, Woodhouse

The New York pop-rock band will be making an appearance at Leeds University Stylus for Freshers, students and the wider population of Leeds to embrace a night of unforgettable music. Leeds marks the midway point of their six-stop tour across England, and the band is likely bringing hits like Unsteady, Jungle and Renegades to UK shows with just as much enthusiasm as ever.

Bringing the much-loved Bavarian music and steins to Leeds for Oktoberfest, the festival is back for another year. Famous for its electric atmosphere and guaranteed mayhem, expect steins of beer bigger than your head, traditional German eats and plenty of dancing. What better way to celebrate the end of the summer than with the world’s biggest beer celebration in Leeds’ biggest beer garden? It seems like a no brainer to us.

Badboy Bagel Co. opening

New York-inspired Brooklyn bar on Call Lane is about to start serving up some seriously exciting food options. Teaming up with Bad Boy Bagel Co., a new food menu featuring delights like the Juicy Hog, which comes oozing with cheese and is loaded with BBQ pulled pork, maple smoked bacon, crispy onions, Bad Boy sauce, and BBQ sauce. The first through the door at 5pm on Friday 30 September can grab themselves a burger free of charge too.

Cirque du Soul

Friday 30 September – Saturday 1 October 2022, 11pm-4am | Beaver Works

An immersive circus experience is coming to Leeds, and it’s unlikely to match anything you’ve seen before. All set to the bass of house, UKG, hip hop and disco, Cirque du Soul is a chance to ‘run away with the circus’ right here in Leeds. Five rooms of music, fun fair rides, food trucks and over 2000 ravers will make this one of the colourful nights out in the city.

Brooke Combe Live

Having supported the likes of The Snuts and The Courteeners, Brooke Combe could be one of the UK’s next big names and the last day of the month is bringing an opportunity to watch (and dance to) the singer in a small, intimate venue. Set to bring the house down at Headrow House, you won’t want to miss this.

Smoove and Turrell Live

Returning with their sixth studio album, Stratos BleuSmoove and Turrell are bringing their analogue synths to the Brudenell Social Club this September- and it’s set to be a showstopper of an evening. With a fusion of early 90s clubbing music, reminiscent of hedonistic nights gone by, expect a night filled with conscious lyrics all to the steady beat of Mike Porter on the keyboard.

The Meanwood Tavern Opening

The highly-anticipated Meanwood Tavern is finally opening its doors from this weekend after being acquired by the team behind Whitelocks Ale House and The Turk’s Head. Those first through the door (the first 50 at 12pm and 5pm) can expect a free Red Top XXXL Slice from Well Oiled, the team behind the new kitchen takeover. If that’s not enough, those that sign up to the mailing list can grab a free drink on the opening day too.

Meet Tyson Fury at FuryFest

Saturday 1 October 2022 | Royal Armouries, Leeds Dock

Royal Armouries at Leeds Docks will play host to the boxing champion and feature a Q&A session where the audience can ask Fury and special guests including Tyson’s father, John Fury and other “featured fighters” questions. There will also be ample opportunity to get involved with the Fury’s at the sports auction, which is themed around “rare item memorabilia auction of stars from around the world”, prize raffle and live entertainment, which ticket holders can also to look forward to during the one-night-only event.

The Tetley Sunday Roast

Dating all the way back to 1822, The Tetley is housed in an old brewery first bought by Johnathon Tetley for just £400. Full of history, as of this summer the kitchen is headed by Connaire Moran, an experienced chef formerly of The Owl and The Reliance.

Options include beer-rested roasted sirloin of beef, roasted pork belly with sage and apricot stuffing, roasted chicken and nut roast. All come served wtih heart trimmings including crispy roasties, loads of gravy, carrots, seasonal greens, and massive Yorkshire puddings.
