Leeds restaurant to collaborate with famous comedian for special anniversary menu

Introducing ‘The Oxcaster’.

It’s a collaboration we never saw happening, but we’re very glad it is.

If you’re a foodie then you might have seen this coming, but the legendary Ox Club is joining forces with comedian James Acaster for an exclusive set menu to celebrate their 10th birthday.

But before we get into that, allow us to fill you in on the relationship between them.

James Acaster is not only known for his hilarious stand up comedy gigs, but also for hosting a food podcast named ‘Off Menu’.

It’s a podcast that interviews celebrities about their dream menu in their dream restaurant, basically like asking someone about their death row meal but a lot less morbid.

James has mentioned the Ox Club and their wonderful food many times on this podcast, specifically praising the very first meal he had there which consisted of Kentucky Fried Mussels, duck breast and a triumphant baked Alaska.

So for their 10th birthday, that menu is coming back.

Announcing this very exciting news to Instagram, the Ox Club said: “We’re teaming up with good friend of Ox Club, comedian, food connoisseur, musician, James Acaster, to present a very special set menu in celebration of our 10th Birthday.

“If you follow us then you’ll know we’re very proud to have been mentioned a whole bunch of times by James on the Off Menu podcast, so we had to try and do something with him.

“We weren’t quite sure what to do but having discussed with James, it was clear that his first ever meal he had at Ox Club was a special one, so we gave former head chef Will Campbell a ring, who cooked the menu at the time, and set about recreating that very menu featuring Kentucky Fried Mussels, Thirkleby Duck, Baked Alaska and more…”

The aptly named Oxcaster set menu will be available from Wednesday 22 October until Saturday 25 October alongside their regular menu.

You can book your table here and who knows, maybe you’ll be sat next to James himself.
