If you have a Christmas tree shaped hole in your living room: this is your reminder that you need to pop down to the shops and get your pine in time for the 25th.

Christmas isn’t the same without a tree. Whether you usually go for a plastic tree but want the aroma of fresh pine to fill your living room this year or you’re new to Leeds, it can be overwhelming trying to find a tree that suits your needs.

Size, smell and shape all matter to us when we’re choosing the perfect tree, so we’ve rounded up the best spots you’ll find a Christmas tree this December- just make sure you get there before they sell out.

Headingley Greengrocers

If you’re in the LS6 postcode, you’ve probably made a trip to the greengrocers at least once. The friendly faces and price-by-weight makes this packaging free store a firm favourite for environmentally conscious locals, students cooking for one and many others. This Christmas you can get your tree whilst picking up your vegetables for the big day.

Choose from one of four different sizes, priced from £20 – £45. There are also plenty of wreaths on offer too, complete with red baubles, pine cones and festive-coloured bows.

Swillington Organic Farm

If you want a proper Yorkshire Christmas tree, look no further than the locally-grown varieties at Swillington Farm. The small business are proud to offer trees unwrapped for you to choose from, keeping their trees in water from the moment they’re cut keeping them fresh and non drop.

Priced on quality rather than height, prices start at £25 for smaller trees and a 6ft tree generally sits around the £45 mark. You can also get your tree delivered locally for a £5 fee, so even if it won’t fit in your car, you don’t have to miss out on a big tree.

Christmas Tree Corner

You won’t need directions to find Christmas Tree Corner, you just need to look for the brightest lights in Roundhay. Sat directly on the junction of Street Lane and Roman Avenue, Christmas Tree Corner has a huge selection of traditional trees waiting for you to take them home.

Even if you don’t want a tree but you want a good laugh, it’s worth popping down. Chances are you’ll find someone trying to fit all 14ft of a tree into their cars, or even an 8ft pine into a convertible- the staff have seen it all already this year.

Brookleigh Farm

According to Brookleigh Farm, owners Tom and Jenny started the business together in 1998 as a means to diversify the farm and give Tom an opportunity to do a bit of travelling across Africa.  Little did they think 22 Christmas’ later they would be supplying the local area with Top Quality Premium Grade Christmas Trees.

There are plenty of varieties to choose from, including: Nordman Fir, Fraser Fir, Traditional Norway Spruce, as well as limited availability of Blue Spruce and Blue Nobles. Although the family-run company serve Menston, Burley in Wharfedale, Ben-Rhydding, Ilkley, Askwith, Otley, Guiseley and surrounding areas, they also offer national delivery.

Meanwood Real Christmas Tree Shop

This pop-up is bringing the festive cheer to the suburbs with a range of Normann Fir non needle drop trees with heights from 3ft to a whopping 16ft- and comes with the added option to get out of the cold and can head inside the Myrtle Tavern for a drink once you’ve chosen your tree. In addition to the Normann Firs, there is also a number of Christmas wreaths made by Parkland Creative, Luxury Wreaths and Handmade Crafts to choose from.

City Centre Supermarkets

It might be a little less exciting than going out to a real farm to choose your tree, but sometimes practicality and ease is the best way to get your Christmas tree sorted. We imagine you’ll come to expect to see Christmas trees in your local Tesco, Morrisons, Asda, Aldi, Waitrose and Wilko, but the availability will vary depending on location.
