Two named storms are set to hit the UK this week, with yellow and amber weather warnings issued across most of northern England and Scotland.
In Leeds, Storm Dudley is set to bring a spell of very strong winds and heavy rain from this afternoon.
The spell of bad weather will be followed almost immediately by Storm Eunice.
It means that a yellow weather warning is in place for Leeds right through until Friday evening.
The Met Office has said that transport services may be affected with cancellations possible.
It is also warning people that power cuts, fallen trees, and damage to buildings are all possible.
The weather service has said that there is ‘a chance of injuries and danger to life from flying debris’.
There’s a 95% chance of heavy rain in Leeds this afternoon, with wind gusts of up to 48mph.
Tomorrow (Thursday) is forecast to be largely dry, though strong winds will remain.
Friday is likely to see the region battered by heavy rain again, and wind gusts of up to 50mph.
Speaking ahead of the arrival of the storms to provide us with more insight into what we can expect, and admitting that further snow and ice warnings would likely be issued over the next few days in northern England, Met Office meteorologist Tom Morgan said: “It’s not just going to be strong winds this week.”

He also added that ‘there could be some quite widespread travel disruption in parts of the UK throughout this week.’
Mr Morgan said: “All parts of the UK will see some very strong winds at times.
“It’s Scotland and the North’s turn on Wednesday and into Thursday, and then it’s probably going to be the southern parts of England and Wales that will see the very strongest winds on Friday.”
