The winter warmer menu with burnt pumpkin soup and mussel frites served with a view of the Leeds skyline

Lobster thermidor, arancini balls with truffle mayo and juicy burgers too…

Grab a seat on the terrace and take in the sunset over the city.

The first frost has got the de-icer all over the cars, the city centre is rammed with Christmas shoppers and with the absence of the Leeds Christmas markets for another year, there’s a cry for some foodie specials that bring warmth to our bellies that isn’t just turkey and sprouts.

Luckily, East 59th in Victoria Gate is answering the city’s prayers for a cosy winter warmer menu that gives you that cosy, well-fed feeling that can only be met by combining seasonal spices with old classics.

The new Winter menu, and it’s been carefully curated with all the seasonal veggies, warm spices and festive flavours we’ve come to know, love and associate with the colder months of the year- and it’s perfect for those looking for a midafternoon break between Christmas shopping.

Kicking off the A La Carte menu with starters there’s bowls of burnt pumpkin soup with crusty bread, to give you that warm cosy feeling inside your stomach or opt for a perfectly portioned plate of arancini balls with truffle mayonnaise, melted mozzarella and lemon, crispy squid or pea hummus.

Brunchers can look forward to a selection of sourdough with Sriracha hollandaise and poached eggs with wild mushroom and feta, honey ham and cheddar or avocado and sundried tomatoes.

The seafood options here are a menu staple and well worth taking advantage of too. Think Lobster Thermidor, mussel frites, sea food pappardelle and sea bass fillet with tenderstem broccoli and a beautiful romseco sauce served with a char lemon.

Then there’s a whole menu dedicated to the classics. Burgers, fish and chips, chicken tikka and fillet steak all make an appearance alongside chicken salad, and a juicy flat iron.

And this is just the beginning…
